My audience is preteen / teenage girls and women who read YA retellings of fairytales (and other stories) and watch movie reinventions.
Age range: 12 - 25
Where do they live? All around the world; specifically in first-world countries where there is access to such books and movies.
Background:
First-world countries / Western culture
Well-educated / intelligent
Probably has a reason that she’s turned to books (ex. a love of reading, antisocial, books > people, an outsider, etc.)
What do they value? Detailed stories that are worth their time, strong female characters, & a decent romance.
What do they already know or think about the topic? Obviously they enjoy retellings if they continue to read and watch them. Some may even have the same inquiry question that I do after experiencing so many retold stories, but don’t care enough to pursue it.
Where do they get information about the topic (on a daily basis)? The only place they would get information is if they read an article or blog post online about the subject. The information recieved on a daily basis would come from the books they read.
Who would they listen to? They would most likely listen to the authors of fairytale retellings, as there is better access to them over social media and their love for fairytale retelling most likely spans from books, not movies.
How should they change their thinking? I believe that they should be more critical of retellings and ask themselves if each one is repetitive and does not add enough to the plot.
Song of the Day
who run the world? girls!
